| Just boating, Anclote Island is a great place to spend the day, as well as the sandbar to the north. It has become
one of the local hot spots on the weekend. Great for swimming, skimboards, shelling etc. Durney Key right outside of the
Cottee River, NPR is a very nice place too with reds and snook running by the key. There are several sandy areas to the south
of the NPR channel as well. Just beware of the wake from boats running in and out of the channel. Another good idea is getting a few friends with boats to move away from the end of the channel and anchor up and tie lines from boat to boat. Floating around from boat to boat and snorkling is aways a great day. Don't forget to raise a dive flag when swimming around the boat. | |
Trout will begin moving around the grass flats, hanging under the fish camps or debre. Expect them to move into holes with coming nightfall and tidal changes Live shrimp, small pins and jerk bait will work just fine. Color for the jerk bait can make a big difference, depending on water conditions. Snook will be moving back and forth with the tide. The south side of Duney Key is a hot spot. You should do pretty good fishing off the wooden walk at Hudson Beach. With the exception of really high tides you can wade off the beach at Hudson. Wear some old sneakers and a hat. The bait fish are all over and the turtle population seens to be great. On our last trip we spotted 7 or 8 small turtles bathing in the sun. |
