May 15, 2008 - Kitten Trail is subject to flooding where the roadway crosses thru a wetland. Staff originally planned to elevate the roadway but the constriction of the wetlands alongside both sides of the road has caused this project to be terminated due to costs. A bridge might be required.
At the last Board of County Commission meeting, April 29, 2008, the commission passed the Denton Oaks Development by a vote of 4 to 1. Our district 5 commissioner Jack Mariano fought the best he could and asked the commission to review new material which they declined. It seemed anything he said was shrugged off. WE must keep an eye out for any new rezoning that developers attempt. Join the Hudson Alliance !

Hudson, Florida, is located at: 28 21' 40"N, 82 41' 14"W.

In 1878 Isaac Hudson moved his family to coastal Pasco County and opened a post office at a place he called Hudson's Landing. The area grew when they began cutting lumber and shipping it to the Tampa area. Hudson stagnated when the Fivay company went out of business and people moved or turned to the sea. Shrimping and fishing employed most of the people during the 1930's to the 50's, when some realator paid the Army Corp of engineers to dig 25 miles of canals. In the 1980's larger homes where beginning to be built and the waterfront community began to grow once again.

Hudson is the last easily accesible land north of New Port Richey Florida while boating. The mile long channel leading in from the Gulf allows you to get food, fuel, lodging and a public dock for an overnight visit or just get away from a storm.

Hudson Beach, though a bit rocky has a sandy beach on the northern end with a towering Tiki style building for a better view of the Gulf and surroundings.

A public launch
